Williston, VT -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/11/2018 -- Founded in 1982, Griswold Home Care is currently the oldest non-medical home care agency in the country. The management and staff at Griswold Home Care encompass all of the qualities set forth by the founder of the company, the late Jean Griswold. Their mission is to provide a deep level of compassion and care to those in need of their services. Sue Richardson, the VP of Operations at Griswold Home Care of Northern Vermont — a
live-in home care service for seniors in Chittenden County — and Northern Vermont has, over her career, exemplified many of the qualities that have made the agency a success.
Sue is a 9th generation Vermonter with ancestors that have been recognized as leaders in the Green Mountain State. Her family has lived as Vermont residents since before the Revolutionary War, and her 4x great aunt was the wife of Martin Chittenden, the 7th Governor of the State, making her the "First Lady" of Vermont. Sue is also the great-grandniece of Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley. Wilson Bentley was a farmer from Jericho, VT, and is prominently known as the first person to photograph snowflakes. Not only was he world-famous for his work, but the belief that no two snowflakes are alike is commonly attributed to him.
After leaving Vermont, Sue settled in Virginia for 21 years where she served on the Boards of four Veteran Service Organizations and volunteered with three others. Her compassion for others doesn't stop with home care, as she also aided many veterans in need. Sue even co-founded a transition shelter for homeless veterans, worked with those suffering from PTSD, and helped a significant number of them get their VA benefits — all as a volunteer.
While Sue has been in the home care industry for nearly 12 years, her lifetime of experience dates back to her days growing up on her grandparents' farm. Surrounded by family members and elder relatives, she developed a deep respect and appreciation for their wisdom and stories. Growing up with such deep roots in the great State of Vermont helped to mold Sue into a diligent and hardworking individual.
Her work at Griswold Home Care of Northern Vermont is a true reflection of her experience lending a hand to those in need. She is dedicated to helping seniors remain independent within their homes, which is why she works closely with every clients to ensure their home care needs are met.
