Williston, VT -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/13/2018 -- September is World Alzheimer's Month, and in an effort to help raise awareness and funds for a cure, Griswold Home Care of Northern Vermont is joining its local community for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. On Sunday, September 16, 2018, Griswold Home Care will be participating in the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds: The Walk to End Alzheimer's®.
Alzheimer's is a progressive brain disorder that damages and eventually destroys brain cells, leading to a loss of memory, thinking and other brain functions. Ultimately, Alzheimer's is fatal. It is the most common form of dementia, and as of right now, there is no cure. Alzheimer's disease and other dementias have a deep impact on not only those who are diagnosed, but also on the people who are closest to them. The staff and caregivers at Griswold Home Care of Northern Vermont work with many clients who have Alzheimer's and see this impact first-hand.
With the Champlain Valley, VT Walk to End Alzheimer's still a few days away, the local organizations participating in the walk, of which Griswold Home Care is proud to count themselves, have already raised well over $200,000.00 that will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association. The money raised will go directly into the funding of on-going research, raising awareness, and supporting those in the fight against Alzheimer's.
To join Griswold Home Care of Northern Vermont in the fight against Alzheimer's, please visit the agency's local walk page to read more about donating, volunteering, or becoming a walk team member.
